Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has strengthened its presence in the aircraft engine maintenance sector with the opening of a new 10,000-square-foot engine overhaul facility in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new site is designed to support maintenance, repair and overhaul services for PT6A and PT6T engines, marking an important step in the company’s strategy to expand its technical capabilities and meet rising demand in the turboprop and helicopter engine segment.
The modern facility has been developed to enhance operational efficiency and provide a collaborative environment for engineering and maintenance teams. Equipped with updated infrastructure and advanced tools, the site will allow Kratos to streamline overhaul operations while maintaining high reliability and safety standards demanded by operators.
This expansion also strengthens the company’s broader MRO network, particularly its operations in Bristow, Oklahoma, by enabling improved coordination and service delivery between the two locations. Through increased capacity and upgraded technology, Kratos’ Consolidated Turbines division will be able to provide faster turnaround times and more responsive support to operators across North America.
Industry demand for PT6 engine maintenance continues to grow as fleets of turboprop aircraft and helicopters remain widely used in commercial, charter, and special mission operations. By investing in expanded overhaul infrastructure, Kratos aims to support this evolving market while strengthening long-term partnerships with operators.
According to company leadership, the new facility opens opportunities for further expansion, job creation, and enhanced in-house technical capabilities. The company has long supported Canadian operators using Bell medium helicopters powered by PT6T engines, and it is now looking to expand its services further by increasing support for fixed-wing aircraft powered by PT6A engines.
The Vancouver facility also builds on the legacy of CTS Canada, which began operations more than two decades ago in Langley, British Columbia, focusing on PT6 maintenance services. Since becoming part of Kratos, the business has experienced significant growth, with this latest development representing its third major expansion within a decade.
As global aviation activity continues to increase and fleets age, investments in engine overhaul capacity remain a key priority for MRO providers. With the launch of its new facility, Kratos positions itself to deliver stronger support for operators while reinforcing its reputation as a reliable partner in the PT6 engine maintenance sector.
