Pegasus Airlines has finalized a major agreement with CFM International for up to 300 LEAP-1B engines to power its future Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The agreement also includes spare engines and a long-term maintenance support program, reinforcing the airline’s strategy to operate a modern, efficient narrowbody fleet.

The deal represents a significant continuation of Pegasus Airlines’ long-standing partnership with CFM International, a relationship that has supported the airline’s fleet development since its early years of operation. The LEAP-1B engines will power Pegasus’ upcoming Boeing 737-10 aircraft, delivering enhanced performance, lower emissions, and improved fuel efficiency.

According to Pegasus Airlines leadership, CFM engines have played a crucial role in supporting the airline’s operational reliability and efficiency since it began operations in 1990. The introduction of LEAP-1B engines is expected to maintain the same level of stability and performance while contributing to the airline’s environmental goals, including its target to reduce carbon emissions by 2030 and support the aviation industry’s net-zero emissions ambitions by 2050.

CFM International executives emphasized that the agreement represents a major expansion of the companies’ long-standing partnership. The LEAP-powered Boeing 737-10 is expected to play a key role in Pegasus Airlines’ continued growth, offering improved range, fuel efficiency, and operational reliability.

Pegasus Airlines has been closely connected with the development of the LEAP engine program. In July 2016, the airline became the first operator in the world to conduct commercial flights powered by LEAP engines, operating an inaugural service between Istanbul and Antalya. Over the years, Pegasus has expanded its fleet using several generations of CFM engines, including the CFM56-3, CFM56-5B, and CFM56-7B models.

Today, the airline continues to modernize its fleet with the latest aircraft powered by both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines. With an average fleet age of approximately 4.9 years, Pegasus operates one of the youngest fleets in Türkiye and among the youngest globally.

The LEAP engine family has seen rapid adoption across the aviation industry, with more than 4,400 engines delivered worldwide. Advanced technologies such as composite fan blades and ceramic matrix composites enable the engine to achieve approximately 15 percent greater fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions compared with previous-generation CFM56 engines.

Supported by advanced health monitoring systems and an open maintenance ecosystem, LEAP engines are designed to deliver high reliability and strong asset utilization for airlines operating modern narrowbody aircraft.
