GA Telesis Engine Services Expands APAC Presence with South Korea AMO Approval and MIAT Contract

GA Telesis Engine Services (GATES), the engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) division of GA Telesis, has announced two major developments that strengthen its global footprint and expand its reach across the Asia-Pacific aviation market.

The company has secured Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) certification from South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, authorizing GATES to perform overhaul services for several widely used commercial aircraft engines, including the CFM56-5B, CFM56-7B, and CF6-80C2. The approval enables the company to provide maintenance support for South Korean airlines and operators, opening access to a large regional market with a significant installed base of these engine types.

This certification marks an important step in strengthening competition in the engine MRO sector, where services have traditionally been dominated by original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-affiliated providers. With this regulatory approval, airlines in the region gain access to an independent MRO provider capable of delivering cost-effective engine maintenance solutions while maintaining high regulatory and technical standards.

Company leadership noted that the approval reflects continued investment in expanding technical capabilities and strengthening support for customers across Asia-Pacific. By establishing a stronger presence in the region, GATES aims to deliver faster turnaround times, competitive maintenance solutions, and reliable engine support for airline operators.

In addition to the South Korean certification, GA Telesis Engine Services has also secured a new engine maintenance agreement with MIAT Mongolian Airlines. Under this contract, GATES will provide overhaul services for the airline’s CFM56-7B engines, further expanding the company’s customer base in the Asia-Pacific region.

The agreement highlights growing confidence among airline operators in the company’s technical expertise and operational reliability. By partnering with GATES, MIAT aims to ensure high levels of engine performance and operational availability as the airline continues to develop its fleet and route network.

Executives from both organizations emphasized that the partnership supports MIAT’s long-term fleet maintenance strategy while ensuring engines return to service with optimal performance and reliability.

With these developments, GA Telesis Engine Services continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading independent provider of aircraft engine maintenance solutions, expanding its presence in key global aviation markets.
