Pegasus Airlines has finalized an agreement with CFM International for up to 300 LEAP-1B engines to power its future Boeing 737-10 aircraft. The deal also includes spare engines and a long-term maintenance support agreement, reinforcing the airline’s strategy to expand its modern and fuel-efficient fleet.
The agreement marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Pegasus Airlines and CFM International. Since launching operations in 1990, Pegasus has relied on CFM engine technology to support the reliability and efficiency of its aircraft fleet.
Airline leadership highlighted that the LEAP-1B engine’s improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions will help Pegasus achieve its sustainability goals, including its 2030 carbon reduction targets and the aviation industry’s broader ambition of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The engines will power the airline’s Boeing 737-10 aircraft, offering enhanced performance, increased range, and improved operational reliability.
CFM International emphasized that the agreement strengthens its partnership with Pegasus Airlines and reflects confidence in the LEAP engine family’s performance and efficiency. The LEAP-powered Boeing 737 MAX 10 is expected to play a significant role in supporting the airline’s future expansion and improving long-haul and medium-haul operational capabilities.
Pegasus Airlines has been closely connected with the development of the LEAP engine program. In July 2016, the airline became the first operator in the world to conduct a commercial flight powered by a LEAP engine, operating a service between Istanbul and Antalya.
Over the years, Pegasus has operated multiple generations of CFM engines, including CFM56-3, CFM56-5B, and CFM56-7B models, before transitioning to the latest-generation LEAP engines. The airline continues to expand its fleet with aircraft powered by both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines.
With an average fleet age of approximately 4.9 years, Pegasus Airlines operates one of the youngest airline fleets in Türkiye and ranks among the youngest globally.
The introduction of additional LEAP-1B engines will further strengthen Pegasus’ fleet modernization strategy while supporting more efficient and environmentally responsible operations.
