Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has extended its long-standing partnership with Lufthansa Technik by renewing a comprehensive component support agreement for its Boeing 777 fleet. The exclusive ten-year contract will cover all twelve Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operated by the airline and will begin in January, continuing a collaboration that has already supported the fleet for the past decade.

The renewed agreement ensures continued access to Lufthansa Technik’s Total Component Support (TCS) program, a fully integrated service package that includes component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), spare parts supply, and global logistics support. Through this program, SWISS benefits from Lufthansa Technik’s worldwide component pool and technical expertise to maintain the reliability of its long-haul aircraft operations.

As part of the arrangement, Lufthansa Technik will maintain a dedicated homebase stock of aircraft components at SWISS’ facilities in Zurich, enabling faster access to critical spare parts and reducing aircraft downtime. The setup ensures efficient supply chain management and strengthens operational reliability for the airline’s widebody fleet.

Beyond the Boeing 777 program, Lufthansa Technik already provides component support services for several other aircraft types within the SWISS fleet, including the Airbus A320ceo, A320neo, A330, A340 and the growing A350 fleet. This broad collaboration reflects the strong technical partnership between the airline and the MRO provider.

Airline leadership highlighted that the continued cooperation reflects the reliability and performance delivered by Lufthansa Technik over the years. In a global aviation environment where supply chain disruptions remain a challenge, dependable component support plays a crucial role in maintaining fleet availability and operational efficiency.

In addition to component services, Lufthansa Technik is supporting the efficiency of SWISS’ Boeing 777 operations through the implementation of AeroSHARK surface technology. Developed in partnership with BASF Coatings, the innovative sharkskin-inspired film reduces aerodynamic drag and improves fuel efficiency by approximately one percent. SWISS was among the first airlines to adopt this technology across its Boeing 777 fleet.

With the extension of this agreement, Lufthansa Technik continues to strengthen its role as a trusted technical partner for airlines worldwide, while SWISS secures long-term support to ensure reliable and efficient long-haul operations.
